The Windmill is run by local, volunteer, committee members who want to help The Windmill remain a vibrant part of the community.
Their aim is to not only run the centre in an effective and efficient way but, through a programme of improvements, to ensure it is fit for future generations to enjoy.
The Chair of the Committee is Vaughan Jones who is supported by five core committee members.
We are always looking for help so, if you are interested in getting involved, let us know.
Meet the Team
Committed to Serving the Community
Vaughan has been Chair since June 2017. As well as chairing meetings, he leads the team on developing strategy, prioritising objectives and working towards achieving those objectives in a timely and financially responsible way. He also represents the committee to outside organisations and liaises closely with the Parish Council on all things Windmill. Vaughan has lived in Deddington with his family since 2007 and has been an active member of the community, chairing the Nursery and Pre-school committee 2011-13, appearing in several pantos and playing football (very badly) for Deddington Town FC (Vets). He is a writer, works from home, and has published several textbooks to teach English as a foreign language.
Roger has been Vice-Chair since June 2017, and been a member of the Committee since 2014 representing Deddington Town FC. He supports the Chair to set the overall policy and develop strategic objectives, and ensure there is effective and efficient administration and good governance of the Windmill. Roger has lived in Deddington with his family since 1997, and works as a Programme Manager supporting teaching and research at the University of Oxford.
Ria has been Minutes Secretary of the Windmill Management Committee since 2006 originally whilst Chairing the Deddington Babies and Toddlers Group…her youngest Toddler is now 14!
She has also been a Committee member of the Pre-school and Deddington School PTA, whilst her boys were younger.
Ria has lived in Deddington with her family since 2002, and works as a Nurse Consultant at the local acute hospitals.
Julie is working on her biog.
Sue has been Treasurer since March 2017. She supports the Chair and ensures the financial administration is in good order advising on future financial planning as well as the current status. Sue has lived in Deddington since 2002, and used to be the Regional Financial Controller within the Firoka Group based at Heythrop Park in Enstone before fully retiring in 2016.
Robin's working on his bio.
Suzie has been on the committee since January 2018. She promotes the Windmill as a venue and community hub through the website, social media, flyers, adverts and events. She has lived in Deddington since 2005 and is regularly booed and hissed at in the annual village panto! Her working life is less dramatic; she's UK Marketing Manager for a Finnish paint producer.
